If you don't know by now... Marketing isn't enough. I know that sounds kind of odd especially coming from a marketing 'guru', but marketing is only one piece of the puzzle. Marketing is designed to help your prospects become aware of you and to generate enough interest with them that they are open to buying from you. If you don't have all the business you desire, you are not selling effectively.
I used to be that person. SALE was a dirty little 4 letter word. I used to hate the fact that it felt like I was trying to deceive people into buying my stuff. My belief was that because I KNOW the value of the products and services I bring to the plate, if they want it, they will buy it. So, instead, I just did marketing to showcase my expertise.
Boy, was I WRONG! Learning how to sell is probably one of the most important things you can do - to get rich in life and have success in your business. If you think about it, we are all selling. Everyday we are selling our thoughts and ideas. There is nothing wrong or evil about selling. Learning to sell authentically is one of the most important skills you can learn because your prospects need help to make a decision.
Most People SUCK at Making Quick Decisions (It's True)
I know that is a shocking way to put it and frankly, that is my intention. If you know anything about the traits of highly successful people, you know that the ability to make quick, strategic decisions is absolutely necessary to getting the results you want.
Your prospects don't feel it is reasonable to act on a decision while still having doubts about it. They want a certificate to come through the mail telling them the right decision has been reached and officially approved. As this doesn't happen, their minds go round and round in circles and they actually think too much.
